Radiation effects on poly(cyclohexane carbonate)
For the first time, the effects of gamma-rays radiation ((CO)-C-60) on poly(cyclohexane carbonate) in air and N-2 atmosphere were investigated. The analysis of the molecular weights and molecular structure of the irradiated samples indicated that chain-scission reactions occurred, whereas cross-linking reactions were absent during the radiation procedure. From the number-average molecular weight (M-n) data of the irradiated samples, the radiation chemical yields G((s)) were calculated to be 2.0 scission/ 100eV in air and 1.1 scission/100eV in N-2. The mechanism of the irradiated degradation reaction was also discussed.
