HYDROGENATION OF UKRAINIAN SALINE COALS - IRON COMPOUNDS AND THEIR TRANSFORMATION DURING HYDROGENATION
Since Ukrainian saline coals contain large amounts of alkaline metals, these cannot be used as a fuel but can be used as a raw material in coal processing. Hydrogenation of coal is the process in which many gaseous and liquid products are obtained. Some iron compounds originally present in coal can reveal catalytic activity during hydrogention, thus resulting in a higher yield. Mossbauer effect provides for identification of iron minerals and iron compounds in coal and hydrogenation products. Results of these investigation show that jarosite has catalytic properties and its presence during hydrogention increased the yield of liquid products.
