Thermoresponsive "particle pumps": Activated release of organic nanoparticles from open-cell macroporous polymers
Organic (drug) nanoparticles are formed by a freeze-dry process in situ inside the emulsion-templated temperature-senstive polymeric materials. These nanoparticles could be pumped into water to form stable nanodispersions on demand simply by raising the surrounding temperature above 30 degrees C, while there were no particles released at room temperatures below 20 degrees C.
