Reduction of amides with silanes catalyzed by MoO2Cl2
A novel method for the reduction of amides to the corresponding amines using a silane in presence of a catalytic amount of dioxomolybdenum dichloride (10 mol%), in moderate to good yields, is reported. This method is especially suitable for the reduction of tertiary amides with bulky N-substituents. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
