Growth and spectral properties of Nd3+-doped Li3Ba2Y3(MoO4) crystal
An Nd3+:Li3Ba2Y3(MoO4)(8) crystal with dimensions of 35 x 25 x 6 mm(3) has been successfully grown from a flux of Li2MoO4. The spectroscopic characterization of Nd3+ :Li3Ba2Y3(MoO4)(8) crystal was investigated. The oscillator intensity parameters Omega(lambda) are Omega(2) = 2.21 x 10(-19) cm(2), Omega(4) = 7.00 x 10(-19) cm(2), Omega(6) = 6.90 x 10(-20) cm(2). The radiative lifetime and the fluorescence lifetime are 111 and 106 mu s, respectively. The absorption cross-sections sigma(a) is 10.64 x 10(-20) cm(2) at 804 nm. The emission cross-section sigma(em) is 1.16 x 10(-19) cm(2) at 1064 nm. Nd3+:Li3Ba2Y3(MoO4)(8) crystal may be regarded as a potential solid-state laser medium material. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
