Hydrophobization of carbon-supported catalysts with 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl moieties for fuel cells
Hydrophobic 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl groups (-C6F5) were chemically linked onto carbon catalyst- support particles, and the resulting catalyst showed higher performance than the unfunctionalized counterpart in proton- exchange membrane fuel cells due to its increased ability to prevent local flooding.
