Anodic-Oxidation of Organics on Ti/IrO2 Anodes Using Nafion(R) as Electrolyte
This paper describes the anodic oxidation of various aliphatic alcohols in pure water using Nafion(R) cation exchange membrane as solid polymer electrolyte. The oxidation has been carried out on an IrO2 anode under conditions of simultaneous oxygen evolution. The experimental results for the anodic oxidation of four different alcohols are in good agreement with the theoretical model presented in a previous paper [8]. Finally a simple experimental method is described for the determination of the relative reactivity of organics oxidation on IrO2 anodes.
