This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of liquid phase reaction of methanol with isobutene to form MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) over beta zeolite modified by steaming. The reaction rate was described by a first order reversible reaction equation assuming homogeneous reaction. It was found that the reaction order was zero with respect to methanol concentration.
