ZrCl4(THF)(2)/methylaluminoxane as the catalyst for the syndiotactic polymerization of styrene
The presence of an organic Lewis base, such as THE enhances the syndiospecificity of the catalytic system ZrCl4/methylaluminoxane toward the polymerization of styrene. The polymer has low molecular weight and a microstructure similar to other polystyrenes obtained with zirconium-based catalysts.
