Formation of single Pt atoms on thiolated carbon nanotubes using a moderate and large-scale chemical approach
Single Pt atoms are formed on thiolated carbon nanotudes (see figure) by using a moderate and large-scale chemical approach instead of conventional physical methods that require severe conditions. The surface modification results from the formation of bonds between Pt and surface thiol groups by weak physisorption. Furthermore, the electronic state of single Pt atoms is close to that of bulk Pt rather than the precursor ion.
