Transparent zeolite films with regular surface patterns
Surfactant/zeolite precursor hybrid layers coated on flat substrates are steamed under controlled humidity to produce transparent zeolite (silicalite) films with regular surface patterns (see Figure). The surface pattern changes depending on the type of non-ionic surfactant used. Zeolite films produced show a contact angle of approximately zero for n-octane, but the contact angle for water varies from zero to 140 degrees.
