Ordered polymer microstructures obtained using pattern forming states of a cholesteric liquid crystal as templates
The formation of novel anisotropic polymer microstructures using cholesteric liquid crystals (LCs) as templates is unveiled. The patterning arises primarily from the disordered states of the LC, thus eliminating the need for external agents. This technique is useful in the evaluation of the pattern-forming states as well as for producing polymer micro structures.. The Figure shows an SEM image of a 3D network after the LC is removed.
