Assembly of micropatterned colloidal gold thin films via microtransfer molding and electrophoretic deposition
Ultra-thin micropatterned colloidal gold films on conducting platforms have been fabricated by a combination of microtransfer molding and electrophoretic deposition techniques. The nano- and microstructure of the film were characterized by atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and the optical properties were examined by UV-vis spectroscopy. It is shown that these patterned films are capable of functioning as transmissive 2D optical diffraction gratings.
