Communication: Organic films for display applications have usually been developed with the aim of individual emission of red, blue, and green light. Another approach, presented here, is to design organic light-emitting devices that emit over a broad spectral range, i.e., essentially white light. The preparation of two new polymer (see Figure) films is described, together with the results of absorption, photoluminescence, and electroluminescence measurements.
