EXCITED-STATE COMPLEXES OF CONJUGATED POLYMERS
Research News: Excited-state charge-transfer complexes (exciplexes) of conducting polymers can be formed by the absorption of light by the polymers (e.g. see Figure), and their generation is not restricted by the free-energy requirements of their ground-state analogs. This makes them of particular interest for applications ranging from xerographic photoconductors to nonlinear optics and LEDs.
