The reversible bending of bipolymer strips composed of a polymer layer (polyethylene) and a conjugated polymer layer (polyprrole) due to volume changes in the polypyrrole on chemical or electrochemical doping is demonstrated. Several applications of such bipolymer strips in devices used to convert chemical or electrical energy into mechanical energy are presented.
