Passivation of metal carbide surfaces: relevance to carbon nanotube-metal interconnections
Transition metal carbides are known to be effective electrical contacts for carbon nanotubes in nanoelectronics devices. Three different approaches to modifying or capping molybdenum carbide are presented: deposition of carbon on the surface, replacement of interstitial carbon with nitrogen using NO, and functionalization of the surface with polymerization active sites.
