Energetic Optimization of Distillations in Hybrid Processes
This paper presents a new method for energetic optimization of hybrid processes for the separation of azeotropic and close boiling zeotropic mixtures. In a process consisting of a liquid-liquid extraction and a distillation almost the whole energy is consumed by the distillation step. The composition of the feed for the distillation column depends on the design of the liquid-liquid extraction. The feed composition leading to the lowest energy requirement in the distillation can be found by an iterative calculation of the energy requirement of every different feed location. This work presents a method which allows the direct calculation of the feed composition with the lowest energy demand in such a hybrid process.
