Effect of the shouldering angle on the shape of the solid-liquid interface and temperature fields in sillenite-type crystals growth
In this work, dark core formation is shown to be strongly related with the shoulder cone angle appearing in Bi12GeO20 (BGO) crystals. From experiment to theoretical simulation, it is shown that increasing cone angle dark core tends to disappear. This is shown to be related with a flattening of the solid/liquid interface and a smoothening of the temperature distribution. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
