Crystal growth of GdYCOB for non-critical phase-matched second-harmonic generation at 860 nm
Gadolinium yttrium calcium oxyborate, GdxY1-xCa4O(BO3)(3) (GdYCOB), can control optical birefringence by changing the compositional parameter x. Therefore. it is possible to achieve non-critically phase matching (NCPM) in the range of 724-961 nm during second-harmonic generation (SHG). We have grown 2-in-sized GdYCOB (x = 0.32) crystal by the Czochralski method mid succeeded in generating a SHG of Ti:sapphire laser at almost 860 nm under NCPM condition.
