SrZrO3 single crystal growth by floating zone technique with radiation heating
The SrZrO3 compound exhibits a perovskite structure with a high melting temperature of approximate to2650degreesC. Due to its practical interest as laser, dielectric and substrate material, large single crystals are required to exhibit high perfection. We report on the crystal growth of SrZrO3 single crystals by the floating zone technique using radiation heating. The influence of growth conditions on the quality of crystals was studied. An instability of the molten zone was observed at growth rates <30mm/h. The increase of the growth rate up to 40-60mm/h resulted in colorless, transparent and crack-free single crystals 5mm in diameter and 40mm in length, X-ray diffraction data, optical absorption and dielectric constant measurements of SrZrO3 single crystals are presented.
