Crystal morphologies and melting curves of CCl4 at pressures up to 330 MPa
The growth and melting experiments of two crystalline phases of CCl4, Ia and Ib, were done by simultaneous visual inspection and pressure manipulation at fixed temperatures. Pressure ranged up to 330 MPa and temperature varied between 240 and 350 K. During growth from a high-pressure melt, Ia single crystals were nearly spherical, whereas Ib crystals were cubical. The measured Ia and Ib melting curves agree with previously published results, although we extended the metastable Ia curve to 330 MPa.
