Active metal species assembled with heteropoly tungstate anion PW9O349-for liquid phase hydrocarbon oxidation
Monometallic [Pd-3(PW9O34)(2)](12-), [Pd-3(PW9O34)(2)PdnOxHy](q-) (where on the average n = 3), bimetallic [Pd2Cu(PW9O34)(2)](12-), [Pd2Fe(PW9O34)(2)](11-), [PdFe2(PW9O34)(2)](10-) and a mixture of [Pd-3(PW9O34)(2)PdnOxHy](q-) (n(av) approximate to 10) + [(VO)(3)(PW9O34)(2)](9-) complexes were prepared and characterized by NMR P-31, W-183, V-51 and IR spectroscopy. The complexes were tested in catalysis of O-2 + H-2 reaction and benzene oxidation to phenol with O-2/H-2. Effectiveness of the catalytic performance depended on the composition of the complexes. Bimetallic Pd(II)-Fe(III) complexes were several times more active in phenol production than Pd(II) monometallic systems.
