INFLUENCE OF INORGANIC SALTS ON THE ADSORPTION OF ORGANICS FROM AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS ONTO WOFATIT EP63
Adsorption ofphenol (Ph), p-chlorobenzenesulfamide and p-aminobenzoic acid onto the microporous polymeric adsorbent Wofatit EP 63 has been measured with and without presence of 1 m NaCl and 1 m KCl, resp. at 20 degrees C. In any case the addition of salts raises adsorption by 30% (NaCl) and 12% (KCl), obviously through a salting-out effect of the inorganic ions. An attempt has been made to quantify the results by using the hydratation number model of Izmailov.
