Lifetime of singlet oxygen ((1)Delta(g)) in liquid and supercritical carbon dioxide
The lifetime of singlet oxygen,O-1(2) ((1)Delta (g)), in liquid and supercritical carbon dioxide (SCF CO2) was determined by a time-resolved phosphorescence method. In both the systems, the lifetime decreased significantly with increasing pressure. The pressure dependence of the lifetime in SCF CO2 was satisfactorily interpreted by the quenching mechanism in liquid phase that involves solvent cage.
