Synthesis and crystal structure of a water-soluble gold(I) complex, {K-3[Au(mba)(2)]}(2) formed by 2-mercaptobenzoic acid (H(2)mba), with aurophilic interaction in the solid-state
Medicinally active, water-soluble and anionic gold(I) complex {K-3[Au(mba)(2)]}(2) 1 formed by 2-mercaptobenzoic acid (H(2)mba) was isolated and its crystal structure determined. The molecular structure in the solid-state comprised a dimeric (AuS2)(2) core through a shea gold(I)-gold(I) contact (3.1555(7) Angstrom), i.e. the aurophilic interaction.
