Determination of the electrostatic potential difference between DNA and the solution containing it: A kinetic approach
A kinetic approach to determine the electrostatic potential difference in soft interfaces, when classical methods fail, is presented. The method is based on electrostatic and non-electrostatic separation of the binding constant of one reactant to one of the phases. Here the method is applied to the DNA/water interface. Reliable results are obtained using as probes the reactions [Ru(NH3),pz] (3+) + S2O82- and [Co(NH3)(5)pz](3+) + [Fe(CN)(6)](4-). (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
