Suppression of binding events via external perturbation with emphasis on QCM
Recent experiments indicate that the external perturbations, related e.g. to high-amplitude shear oscillations of the surface of a quartz crystal microbalance sensor, may suppress binding of mesoscopic aggregates (e.g., polystyrene spheres, vesicles, large proteins, etc.) to the surface. Using a simple kinetic model, we derive equations making it possible to conceptually understand and to mathematically describe what may happen in such experiments. (c) 2006 Elseiver B.V.
