An analysis of turbulent states in the NH3+NO reaction on Pt{100}
We present experimental evidence of the existence of defect-induced turbulence in the NO + NH3 reaction on Pt{100}. The method is based upon the system dynamics reconstruction using time delay coordinates, and assuming that a two-dimensional representation is enough to capture the relevant dynamic features of the system. Since the reconstruction method by delay coordinates preserves the topology of the phase space, defects should appear as singularities localized at the center of the phase portraits. We also constructed the radial distribution function P(r) in which defects appear as a nonvanishing minimum at the origin (r = 0). (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
