Ion induced hypercritical point in tetrahydrofuran/water solutions
We report on preliminary data of the new coexisting phases in the tetrahydrofuran/H2O/KCl solution after a certain threshold value of concentration of ions is trespassed (similar to4 x 10(-4) mole fraction of KCl in H2O). Composition of the discovered phases has been determined by FTIR spectroscopy using Beer-law procedure on H2O bending mode (deltaOH at 1647 cm(-1)). The results are interpreted in terms of ions induced hypercritical point. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
