A controlled approach to well-defined oligothiophenes via oxidatively induced reductive elimination of stable Pt(II) oligothienyl complexes
Stable Pt(II) oligothienyl complexes have been synthesized, and their geometric and electronic structure has been fully characterized. Upon activation by chemical or electrochemical oxidation, reductive elimination of the Pt(II) complexes resulted in oligothiophenes with double length, representing a controlled homocoupling method.
