Formaldehyde absorption by ion-exchange materials
Formaldehyde(HOHO), commonly used in construction and furnishing materials, is a major indoor air pollutant in airtight houses. In this reserach, ion exchange groups were introduced into an existing microfiltration nonwoven fabric by radiation induced grafting polymerization and subsequent chemical modification. Glycidyl methacrylate(GMA) was grafted onto the P.P nonwoven fabric. The epoxy group produced in the GMA grafted nonwoven fabric was converted into anion exchange groups by reaction with hydroxylamine(HA), Subsequently, HA nonwoven fabric adsorption of formaldehyde better then activated carbon, anion beads, cation beads.
