Intermediate-temperature fuel cell based on the proton-conducting composite membranes
We report a study of intennediate-temperature fuel cells H-2, Me/(1-x)CsHSO4-xSiO(2)/Pt, O-2 (air) (x=0.1-0.4), with different anode compositions Me. Best results were obtained for the membrane electrode assembly H2, Pd/Pd+CsHSO4/CsHSO4-SiO2/Pt+CsHSO4/Pt, O-2. At T= 175 degrees C, the fuel cell demonstrated an open circuit voltages of 1.05 V and a maximal power density of similar to 15 mW(.)m(-2) at U=0.5 V. Factors determining the anode and cathode polarization are discussed. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
