Effect of liquid flow regimes on dynamic simulation of tray columns
Depending on the operating conditions such as liquid and vapor flow rates, different flow regimes of liquid can be observed on the trays of a distillation column with specified dimensions. Since these flow regimes have different characteristics, a specific hydraulic equation can be proposed for each of them. In this paper, the effect of applying the different hydraulic equations in a rigorous dynamic model on the simulation results is investigated. As the result of this study, the dynamic behaviors of a distillation column are compared for different flow regimes after an increase in the feed flow rate.
