Preparation of Activated Plum-seed Char by Chemical Activation
Activated carbon was widely used in industrial application such as purification of gas and water, catalyst support and separation process etc., owing to its highly adsorption capacity. In this paper, we prepared from plum-seed by chemical activation with NaOH and KOH as an activation agent at 600℃, 2hr. Preparation process involves the roasting of raw material and carbonization fo roasted material followed by chemical activation. The N2-BET specific area, total pore volume and average pore radius by chemical activation with NaOH and KOH were 610-1342m2/g, 0.34-1.12cm3/g and 32-71 Å respectively. It was examined the characteristics of activated carbon BET specfic surface ares, N2 adsoptin isotherm, pore size distribution, average pore radius, pore volume and SEM photograph were observed The preparation of activated carbon by chemical activation using plum-seed was successfully carried out. Removal of copper(II) in solution by activated carbon was carried out and structural change of pore surface was observed by SEM.
