Simulation of Concentration Dispersion in Unsteady Deflected Flows
We report calculation of particle movement during oscillatory flow in flat channels containing baffles. The time history of particle positions is used to extract an averaged dispersion coefficient. We study the effect of changing the fluid dynamic conditions, channel geometry and adding a small mean flow component. The calculations are used to improve our qualitative understanding of dispersion in unsteady flows as well as quantifying dispersion in a class of practical devices.
