Stabilized Chaotic Dynamics of Coupled Nonisothermal CSTRs
Chaotic dynamics of a set of coupled nonisothermal CSTRs is stabilized by (1) a negative feedback control scheme and (2) a self-interaction method. The first control method is capable of stabilizing the chaotic dynamics to its own embedded unstable periodic orbits, no matter whether the periods are short or long. The response of the second control method is a brand new series of dynamics, including fixed points, periodic orbits, and a distorted attractor, which are not the originally embedded orbits. The availability of an infinite number of controlled outputs offers a great flexibility to operate the existing chemical process, if the desired output is subject to change from time to time. This great ability to choose any suitable output for operations of the existing chemical processes may bring in anew concept called chaotic operation in the near future.
