Kinetics of Initial Catalyst Sintering in Supported Catalysts
Sintering kinetics are developed for the initial stage of catalyst sintering in porous, supported catalysts, as opposed to sintering in model (flat-surface) catalysts, for both mechanisms of atom and crystallite migration. The theoretical results show that the effect of pore size on sintering is contained only in the sintering rate constant and that the rate constant decreases in an exponential manner with increasing pore size.
