Adsorption Properties and MIcrostructure of Wood Charcoal : Effect of Carbonization Temperature
The specific surface areas and the pore volumes of chars pyrolyzed from Japanese sugi have been determined in terms of the carbonization temperatures, using nitrogen adsorption-desorption technique. The specific volume, the micropore volume and the portion of micropores increased with carbonization temperature up to 700 ℃ due to the creation of new micropores. With further increase of temperature to 1000 ℃, those values decreased due to the sintering effects.
