Miniature pin-type batteries featuring lithium-ion rechargeable chemistry and lithium/CFx chemistry have been developed for implantable medical applications. The characteristics of these batteries include hermeticity, small volume, and high power. Optimizing the jellyroll configuration and battery electrode design allows small volumes and high power.
