Rational approximation of distributed-delay controllers
Some methods for constructing rational approximants to distributed delays, such as those occurring in the the theory of the Smith predictor, are analysed, and approximation error bounds are derived. The von Neumann inequality is introduced as a method of constructing rational matrix-valued approximations of more general analytic matrix-valued transfer functions.
