Obstacle-Induced Voids in 2-Dimensional Gas-Fluidized Beds
Novel observations of two-dimensional obstacle-induced voids in marginally fluidized beds are presented. For obstacles in the form of horizontal circular cylinders, these voids are thin and can evolve symmetrically and periodically beneath the cylinder. A mathematical model is developed and its predictions are compared with observations.
