The rising velocity of Taylor bubbles in an annulus
Rising velocities of Taylor bubbles generated in the annulus between a dip-tube and the wall of a 140 mm column have been measured as functions of gas flow rate in the dip-tube. Extrapolation to zero flow gives results in broad agreement with the literature, but the effects of gas flow rate are less than expected. Possible reasons for this are discussed.
