2nd-Order Optimization Methods for Use with an Artificial Neural-Network Estimator Used in a Plastic Extrusion Process
This paper addresses the problem of estimating the effective locations of actuator responses in a plastic extrusion process. It describes how an Artificial Neural Network estimator has been implemented using the Levenberg-Marquardt second-order nonlinear optimization method. Simulations of the estimator using real plant bump data show that the use of the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm dramatically increases the convergence rate.
