Thin films of europium borate glass have been obtained by pulsed laser deposition. Optical spectra of these films show no indications of the presence of trivalent europium, contrary to the material of the target. Magneto-optical activity of the films is demonstrated with the help of magnetic circular dichroism spectra. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V All rights reserved.
