Electrodeposition Characteristics and Magnetic Properties of CoFeNi Thin Film Alloys
E-mail:
Various compositions of CoFeNi alloys have been electrodeposited in chloride and sulfate baths and evaluated for their electrodeposition characteristics and magnetic properties. For electrodeposited CoFeNi thin film alloys, the increase in the Fe content in the deposits from the sulfate bath was considerably faster than those from the chloride bath. The current efficiencies in the sulfate bath showed an observable decrease, from 75 to 50 %, while those in the chloride bath showed no significant decrease. From the low coercivity (3 Oe) in the minimum and the higher squarenesses of the alloys from the sulfate bath than those from the chloride bath, the CoFeNi ternary alloy having a composition of 80/10/10 by weight was the best CoFeNi alloy found in this research for use as a soft magnetic material.
