Preparation and Properties of a Polyorganosiloxane Rubber Nanocomposite Containing Ultrafine Manganese Zinc Ferrite Powder

α,ω-Vinyl poly(dimethyl-methylphenyl)siloxane prepolymer (VPMPS) and α,ω-hydrogen poly(dimethyl-diphenyl)siloxane prepolymer (HPMDPS) were prepared through an equilibrium polymerization. Mn-Zn ferrite fine particles were prepared through a solid state reaction. Polyorganosiloxane rubber (POXR) nanocomposites containing Mn-Zn ferrite and having. EMI shielding properties were prepared from the compounding of VPMPS, HPMDPS, catalyst, and fillers, such as Mn-Zn ferrite. Microwave absorbing properties and mechanical properties of the POXR nanocomposites were measured using a dielectric analyzer and UTM. The material constants of POXR nanocomposites containing Mn-Zn ferrite were also determined. The Mn-Zn ferrite containing POXR-90 nanocomposite exhibited a reflection loss of 11 dB at 1 GHz. The tensile strength and elongation of POXR-60 were 66 Kgf/cm2 and 340 %, respectively.
