Reservoir management through horizontal-well technology in Algyo field
The first horizontal well in Hungary was drilled in 1989. Since then, 60 horizontal sections have been completed. Most of these wells are in the Algyo field. The objective of reservoir management was to maximize long-term profit of the field by accelerating reserves, reducing gas and water coning, and optimizing existing vertical wells. Infill drilling of horizontal wells has added 5.0 million bbl of incremental reserves. Approximately 1.2 million bbl of bypassed reserves have become producible after 25 years of water injection.
