Production and characterization of pyrolysis oil from herbaceous biomass (Achnatherum splendens)
This is the first time that herbaceous biomass (Achnatherum splendens) was pyrolyzed in tubular furnace pyrolysis equipment to study the effect of temperature and heating rate on the product distribution and yields of pyrolysis products. It was found that the temperature was the most important factor for the product distribution and yields of pyrolysis products. The maximum bio-oil yield of 44.85% was achieved at a temperature around 450degreesC with a heating rate of 30degreesC min(-1). Gas and char yields of different temperatures and heating rates were also determined. The pyrolysis oil was characterized by elemental analysis and various. chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, which are HPLC, FTIR and UV.
