Modeling of single phase electrocrystallization processes - Growth of hyperboloids
A simple three-step method has been devised for the derivation of the current-time transients (CTTs) due to all charge transfer controlled models of growth. Using these steps, generalized forms of the CTTs due to the models of growth of right-circular cones, paraboloids, and hemispheroids as well as hyperboloids have been derived. The CTTs due to the model of growth of hyperboloids are shown to be solely dependent on a single geometric parameter kappa. This parameter has been defined as the ratio of the two rate constants for growth divided by the tan of the angle of contact which the hyperboloidal growth forms supposedly make with the electrode substrate. The CTTs due to the models of growth of right-circular cones, paraboloids, and hemispheroids are shown to be all represented by the CTT equations which are derived for the model of growth of hyperboloids when kappa assumes values of 1.0, 0.5 and 0, respectively.
